Life After Campus (LAC) Programme — Sedibeng TVET College

What Happened

Humble Queen introduced the Life After Campus (LAC) Programme at the Sedibeng TVET College — a structured development initiative supporting students transitioning from campus into the corporate environment.

The programme was facilitated by:

  • Amanda Ndlovu — Programme Lead & Life Coach
  • [Insert Name] — Campus Psychologist (familiar with the student cohort)

Over 8 weeks, students engaged in practical, guided sessions focused on bridging the gap between academic life and workplace expectations.

Key focus areas included:

  • Communication and professional presence
  • CV development and interview readiness
  • Emotional intelligence and workplace awareness
  • Time management and personal responsibility
  • Social media positioning as young professionals

This initiative was sponsored by Vopak and supported by Lesedi Local Municipality, strengthening its reach and impact.

The Purpose

To prepare young women to:

  • Transition into corporate spaces with confidence and awareness
  • Navigate workplace dynamics with emotional intelligence
  • Position themselves professionally beyond their qualifications

This programme addresses a critical gap —
education prepares students academically, but not always professionally or socially for the realities of work environments.

The Outcome

The programme ran over 8 weeks, supporting 20 sponsored students.

  • 95% completion rate (19 out of 20 students)
  • Consistent attendance across all sessions — participants remained committed and engaged throughout
  • Zero disengagement due to lack of interest — one student exited due to family-related circumstances

Engagement and participation:

  • Active involvement in discussions, exercises, and practical tasks
  • High consistency in attendance and contribution across the full duration

Demand indicators:

  • 8 additional students were turned away after capacity was reached
  • A waiting list of 25 students was established for the next intake (subject to funding availability)

At programme close:

  • Participants requested a formal graduation ceremony, demonstrating ownership, pride, and perceived value of the programme

This programme did not struggle to retain participants —
it reached capacity, sustained engagement, and generated excess demand.
